One boss. A crowd full of bad timing.
Viewers Control Cuphead on TikTok LIVE: Complete Tutorial for Beginners
Cuphead boss fights give the audience an immediate target and a very visible failure. Let small gifts nudge, jump or fire, then reserve an EX move for a big-gift moment when the meter is ready. The fun is surviving one more boss phase together.

Before playing Cuphead with viewers
Use single-player Cuphead on PC, with the streamer managing the map, loadout and retry menus. This starter legend targets ground boss fights. Plane levels change what several buttons do, so disable the ground mappings before switching to a flying stage.
Cuphead: default PC keys
Default PC keyboard controls use arrow keys for movement and aiming, Z for jump/parry, X for shoot, Left Shift for dash and V for an EX move or equipped Super Art when available. Check your own keybinds in the game's settings and test the equipped weapon before labelling the gifts.

Gift-to-key starter mapping
Try these starting settings for Cuphead; choose gifts available to your audience.
| Gift example | Key and action | Hold duration (ms) | TikFinity screen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rose | Left arrow: move left | 80 | 1 |
| Ice Cream | Right arrow: move right | 80 | 1 |
| TikTok | Up arrow: movement / aim up | 80 | 2 |
| Heart Me | Down arrow: movement / duck and aim down | 80 | 2 |
| Finger Heart | Z: jump / airborne parry | 60 | 3 |
| GG | X: shoot burst | 600 | 4 |
| Doughnut | Left Shift: dash | 60 | 3 |
| Galaxy | V: EX move / Super Art if ready | 60 | 5 |
Why these durations suit Cuphead
An 80 ms direction tap leaves room for another dodge rather than running across the arena. Z and Shift at 60 ms are brief jump and dash requests; holding dash does not stretch its distance. X is intentionally longer at 600 ms because continuous fire is useful against a boss, and a burst can overlap movement on another screen. V needs only a short press to spend available meter. Start here and adjust for your weapon and boss, without presenting these values as a reliable reaction to delayed video.
Connect TikFinity to Cuphead
- Open a solo Cuphead save and TikFinity Desktop on Windows. Close the TikFinity browser dashboard, finish Setup and TikTok login, then prepare LIVE Studio or OBS game capture showing the entire boss arena and EX meter.
- Under Actions & Events, create Shoot with Simulate keystrokes and choose X. Turn on game compatibility mode and follow any installation request, then set 600 ms. Remember 1,000 ms = 1 second. Duplicate the action to build the short movement, jump, dash and V mappings listed above.
- Keep Left/Right on screen 1 and Up/Down on screen 2, directions on their own queues. Jump/dash share screen 3, shooting uses screen 4 and EX uses screen 5. Each screen is a queue: fire can overlap movement, while jump and dash remain ordered. Load every URL as a Link source in LIVE Studio or Browser source in OBS.
- Create Sending a specific gift events for the Cuphead actions. Start with Repeat with gift combos off, especially for V, and keep only one or two pending inputs per queue. Leave Skip on next action off initially and disable gifts during retry menus so they cannot select options.
- In the tutorial area, press the play icon for Shoot and focus the game within 5 seconds. Check a short jump and dash, then test V when meter is available. Use action playback rather than the Event Simulator, which does not activate keystrokes.
Cuphead stream tips
- Build the show around boss fights, with one recognisable target and a clear restart between attempts. Pause events and clear the old queues before each retry so chat gets a fresh opening.
- Choose Simple mode while learning with viewers. It eases the boss attempt, but does not award the soul contracts needed for normal progression. Tell chat when you switch to Regular for a progression attempt.
- Make EX a big-gift moment only when meter is available. V can use an equipped Super Art at a full meter, so show the loadout and describe what the button currently does rather than guaranteeing the same attack every time.
- Jump and dash timing matters more than long holds. A second Z press in the air can parry a pink target, but independent gifts and stream delay make that hard to time. Practise manually before adding a parry challenge.
- Keep shoot separate so a 600 ms burst does not block a dodge. On plane stages Shift shrinks the plane instead of performing the ground dash; rebuild the legend before you offer those stages.
Frame your Cuphead stream
Show both Cuphead and the boss, with incoming projectiles visible from the edge of the arena. Put the movement diagram underneath and give V a conspicuous meter-required label. Leave health and EX cards unobstructed, and place your reaction camera above the fight.
The key boxes use CSS, with no game artwork. Alert display time controls alerts and TTS separately from key holds.
Cuphead FAQ
Does an EX gift always fire a special attack?
No. V requires meter, and a full meter with an equipped Super Art can change the result. Explain the current loadout and do not promise an attack when the meter is empty.
Can viewers parry using Z?
Yes, Z is also the airborne parry input, but it must coincide with a pink target. A queued gift cannot guarantee that timing.
Can Simple mode finish normal progression?
Simple is useful for practice, but its boss wins do not award the soul contracts required for normal progression. Use Regular when you want those rewards.
