One expedition. A limited bag of tricks.
Viewers Control Spelunky 2 on TikTok LIVE: Complete Tutorial for Beginners
Hand chat a few carefully rationed tools for the Dwelling. A tiny jump can clear a trap; a badly placed bomb can end the expedition. Make survival the shared challenge rather than filling the cave with explosives.

Before playing Spelunky 2 with viewers
Use a single-player Adventure run for this setup, even though Spelunky 2 also offers multiplayer. Permadeath ends the current expedition and randomised levels change the route, so an old gift queue cannot safely navigate the next attempt. Clear pending actions before restarting.
Spelunky 2: default PC keys
These are the default PC keyboard controls for Spelunky 2, not the older Spelunky HD layout: arrows move, look, climb or crouch; Z jumps, X attacks, C places a bomb, D throws a rope and A enters a door or buys. Left Shift switches walk/run behaviour; movement defaults to running. Before assigning gifts, check your own keybinds in the game's settings.
Control reference: LucaScorpion's Spelunky 2 keyboard scan codes cross-check the action keys; Frondtech's Keyboard Config reference includes walk/run.
Gift-to-key starter mapping
Try these starting settings for Spelunky 2; choose gifts available to your audience.
| Gift example | Key and action | Hold duration (ms) | TikFinity screen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rose | Left arrow: move left | 70 | 2: horizontal directions |
| Ice Cream | Right arrow: move right | 70 | 2: horizontal directions |
| Finger Heart | Up arrow: look up / climb | 100 | 3: vertical directions |
| Heart Me | Down arrow: crouch / look down / climb | 100 | 3: vertical directions |
| GG | Z: jump | 80 | 1: jump and whip |
| Tiny Diny | X: whip attack | 60 | 1: jump and whip |
| Large gift, enable outside shops only | C: bomb | 50 | 4: limited resources |
| Different large gift | D: rope | 50 | 4: limited resources |
| Host-approved gift at an exit | A: door / buy | 50 | 4: limited resources |
| Optional walking gift | Left Shift: walk/run modifier | 250 | 5: walking modifier |
Why these durations suit Spelunky 2
Start with 70 ms direction nudges because default running covers ground quickly beside spikes and arrow traps. An 80 ms Z tap is a small jump, not a promise of clearing every gap; lengthen it only after trying a safe ledge. Bombs and ropes need a brief press, not a sustained hold. The 250 ms walk modifier only slows an overlapping movement action and does nothing useful on its own.
Connect TikFinity to Spelunky 2
- Open TikFinity Desktop on the Windows PC hosting the cave run. Close the browser version, sign in on Setup and complete TikTok login. Capture Spelunky 2 in LIVE Studio or OBS before introducing any viewer actions.
- In Actions & Events, create a Z jump action with Simulate keystrokes and enable game compatibility mode. Follow its installation prompt if required. Enter an 80 ms key hold; 1,000 ms = 1 second. Duplicate the action for the remaining keys and replace each duration with the table value.
- Put jumps and whip on screen 1, horizontal directions on screen 2 and vertical directions on screen 3. Every screen has its own queue, allowing a direction to overlap a jump without opposite arrows firing together. Resources share screen 4; optional walking uses screen 5. Add each screen URL as a Link source in LIVE Studio or Browser source in OBS.
- Create an event for each action using Sending a specific gift. Disable Repeat with gift combos for bombs, ropes and doors. Begin with a short queue and Skip on next action off. Disable resource events around shops, and pause all events between expeditions so old gifts cannot spend the next run's supplies.
- From safe ground, press the play icon beside Z jump and tab into the game within 5 seconds. Verify the tap, then test one direction and its overlap with Z. The Event Simulator does not fire keystrokes. Keep the game in focus; an alert alone does not prove the explorer moved.
Spelunky 2 stream tips
- Explain permadeath before taking the first gift. A restart gets a new randomised level, so let the host scout each entrance instead of replaying a memorised sequence.
- Keep bombs and ropes as big gifts with combo repeats off. Both consume limited supplies, and a rope thrown under a low ceiling may achieve very little.
- Avoid shopkeeper chaos: pause attack and bomb events before entering a shop. A stray whip or explosion can turn a shopping stop into a chase.
- There is no dash action here. Movement normally runs already; coordinate the short arrow hold with the jump tap and use walking near traps. A longer hold is not a substitute for jump timing.
Frame your Spelunky 2 stream
Place the CSS arrow boxes below the cave capture and label bombs and ropes as limited supplies. Keep the health and resource counters visible above the legend so viewers can see why another bomb gift might be disabled.
The key boxes use CSS, with no game artwork. Alert display time controls alerts and TTS separately from key holds.
Spelunky 2 FAQ
Why did a large gift fail to throw a rope?
Check remaining ropes, whether the resource event is enabled and whether screen 4 is still queued. A gift cannot restore supplies. Explain paused actions before viewers send gifts.
Can viewers use the same route after dying?
Ordinary Adventure levels are randomised between runs. Stop the queues after death and inspect the new cave before re-enabling movement.
Should bomb gifts repeat with a combo?
Leave resource repeats off. A streak can otherwise spend several bombs and put both the explorer and nearby shopkeepers in danger.
